Closer to YOU

Closer to YOU

LORD, since I first came to YOU
I was convinced I was alone.
I’d like to think that I have learned,
and in YOU I have grown.

I realize that in this life
all my blessings flow from YOU.
No matter how, or where I wander,
YOUR pathways are true.

I’ve heard many Preachers bring the WORD
with great Power!
The message they conveyed of YOU
condensed to half an hour.

I marvel at their speaking skills,
their orations all quite stirring.
The end of them are all the same;
with YOU there is a curing.

I’ve read YOUR Holy Bible
from beginning to the end.
I’ve felt YOUR HOLY SPIRIT when on me
it did descend.

I can’t compare the peace I felt…
tears of joy wet on my face.
I know when this occurs
all my sins you did erase.

I want to draw much closer
than I’ve ever been before.
I pray YOU show me what to do
to know YOU even more.

The eloquence I lack in prayers to YOU
when I am praying…
I feel are not enough…
there should be more in what I’m saying.

Please show me LORD, teach me to pray…
in ways that touches YOU.
I want to feel your presence when
each prayer to YOU is through.

When my time here is finished
and I am gathered near YOUR Throne
I’ll be so very grateful
YOU have claimed “me” as YOUR own.

That meeting will be glorious,
with Believers YOU’VE allowed.
The throngs of Saints will praise YOUR NAME
as to YOU we are bowed.

The countless Saints within that group
as far as we can see…
Will be comprised of all who love YOU…
among them will be “me”.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Philippians 2:20-21

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

Romans 8:26-28
