Our Journey

Our Journey

Our life is a sojourn through
this thing we call “time”.
It’s hard to describe this,
especially in “rhyme”.

“I” view life as a “journey”
that each of us will make.
Our GOD keeps a journal
of each step we take.

Sometimes when we set out
on our upcoming day…
We’re burdened by cares
that have come our way.

The truth of the matter…
in the grand scheme of things…
Is; we must all wait…
for “what” each day brings.

GOD’s blessings are numerous
and often come fast.
Yet some of us feel
like this may be our last.

We all gain perspective
of “why” we’re all here.
It sometimes increases
with each passing year.

When I seriously contemplate
my presence here on earth…
I realize my GOD has thought
my life had a worth.

I scarce can think of “what” to do
to justify HIS gift.
I hope to live it wisely
and not aimlessly just drift.

The talents that HE gave to me
I often have abused.
And others that I know HE gave,
I seldom even used.

I thought when I was younger
the days would never end;
I’d always feel the strength of youth
that age would never bend.

The years fly by…
and soon you’re older…
you finally get a clue.
You realize there’s more to life
then just what “you” can do.

You save your money, make wise choices…
try to build some wealth.
Then you see, it’s all for naught…
without your own good health.

I have an understanding now
of what life’s all about.
And when I remember of HIS grace,
I just want to shout!

HE has forgiven all my sins
and washed them all away.
In spite of all the wrong I’ve done,
I’ll be with HIM some day.

I sincerely learned my lessons.
I was foolish in my youth.
I wasted years on sinful things
and didn’t want GOD’s truth.

I came to Christ some years ago
and my life is not the same.
I “DO” appreciate what HE’s done…
I praise HIS HOLY NAME.

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
James 4:14

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that fadeth not away, reserved in Heaven for you,

who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations,

that the trial of your faith (being much more precious than gold that perisheth, though it be tested with fire) might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ,

whom having not seen, ye love. In Him, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory,

receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, and have prophesied of the grace that should come unto you…

1Peter 1:3-10

For ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, such as silver and gold, from your vain way of living which ye received by tradition from your fathers,

but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot,

who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.

By Him ye believe in God, who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God.

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently,

being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God which liveth and abideth for ever;

for “all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away;

but the Word of the Lord endureth for ever.” And this is the Word which by the Gospel is preached unto you.

1Peter 1:18-25
